About This Place

Located in the heart of Sparta, Tennessee, Marioochi’s Pizzeria On The Square offers an authentic Italian pizza experience that has quickly become a cherished local treasure. Specializing in Italian-style pizzas and classic Italian appetizers, this cozy eatery invites guests to savor flavors that dance on the palate with every bite. From the moment you step inside, you are embraced by a warm, inviting atmosphere that’s peaceful and unpretentious—perfect for savoring a meal without distractions like blaring TVs. The exposed brick interior adds an artisanal charm, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Marioochi’s menu is an ode to quality and tradition, showcasing standout dishes that have won the hearts of many. The Margherita Pizza captivates with its fresh basil, creamy mozzarella, and perfectly blistered crust. For those seeking something bolder, the Hey Mikey Hot Honey pizza adds a delightfully surprising sweet and spicy kick that lingers enticingly on the tongue. The Goodfella Pizza and The Big Cheese are hearty, cheese-forward creations that promise indulgence in every slice.

Appetizers like the Garlic Knots deliver a heavenly aroma of baked garlic and herbs, soft on the inside with a lightly crisp exterior. The creamy Spinach Artichoke Dip and fresh Bruschetta offer bright, savory starters, although the bruschetta’s fresh diced tomatoes present a subtle twist that might not suit all palates, according to some diners. Pair your meal with a crisp Caesar Salad or the vibrant Italian Spring Greens salad dressed lightly with balsamic, providing a refreshing counterbalance to the rich pies.

The dessert selection is a sweet finale you won’t want to miss. The Large Cannoli and Small Cannolies are filled with velvety ricotta cream, while the Sticky Toffee Cake and New York Cheesecake satisfy those craving deep, luscious flavors. Diners have commented on the decedent yet rich texture of the chocolate cake, which is served ice-cold and dense, further proving Marioochi’s commitment to crafting memorable tastes.

Customer experiences at Marioochi’s highlight more than just the food. Many visitors applaud the attentive and knowledgeable staff who offer excellent recommendations and make guests feel genuinely welcomed. Bartender Andy, in particular, has earned a reputation for professionalism and top-tier customer service, contributing to why patrons keep coming back. Although some items, like the bruschetta, have a unique style that may be polarizing, most agree that the overall dining experience, cleanliness, and flavor quality place this pizzeria at the top of the region’s list.

Marioochi’s is more than just a place to grab pizza—it’s a destination for those who appreciate authentic, thoughtfully prepared dishes served in a relaxed and friendly setting. Whether you’re unwinding at the bar or sharing a meal with loved ones in the dining room, every visit promises satisfaction for the senses and a genuine taste of Italy in Tennessee’s charming Sparta.

Marioochi's is a hidden gem. A bit out of the way for most people in Tennessee, it is definitely worth the drive. We came from Knoxville on the advice of an acquaintance. Our server was quick to greet us with water and menus. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt in serving us throughout the meal. The Italian style pizza (sans tomato sauce) was easily the equal of pizza I had tasted in Italy ????????. My wife's calzone was the best I have ever tasted--not a doughy mass but a surprisingly light and delicious bite. We split a caprese salad which was the only slightly disappointing choice. The cheese was excellent, the basil a little thin (though more was happily provided on request), the balsamic drizzle was tssty if a little skimpy, but the tomatoes were pretty tasteless. I had a Peroni Italian beer, a choice I found light and refreshing, an excellent accompaniment to pizza. The price for our meal came to just north of $50. I'm certain that if news gets out in Nashville about Marioochi's you will have to wait for a table. The restaurant was about 80% full when we were there on a Thursday evening which made for a convivial atmosphere.

This place is the best. I have consumed hundreds of pizzas and this place has the the top spot. Andy the bartender is a professional and gives superb customer service/ recommendations. If you do not stop here and get a pizza you have missed a hidden gem. Restaurant is clean, staff is friendly and informative, food is exceptional. Do not miss out. When my fiancee and I think about pizza. This is the place we salivate over.

Husband voted for a 5 rating, I was going to do a 3 rating so we compromised eith a 4. The bruschetta was odd to me, others might like it. The bread was thin & small loaded with diced tomatoes, no balsamic. The Bobby was ok, husband liked it. Pepperoni and cheese pizza with the same tiny diced tomatoes as on the bruschetta, no sauce. The chocolate cake was large, ice cold, dense with a rich bitter dark chocolate frosting. The service started well then tapered off significantly.

My husband and I finally made it to Marioochi’s in Sparta, and we’re so glad we did! We were greeted right away by a friendly hostess and offered the choice to wait 20 minutes for a table or sit immediately at the bar. We chose the bar—and it was perfect. The first thing I noticed was the peaceful atmosphere—no TVs in sight, which made for a relaxing dining experience. The open view of the brick oven was such a nice touch, and the remodel is absolutely beautiful. I couldn’t help but snap a few photos! Our bartender/server, Andy, was fantastic—he gave us a little history of the place, offered great menu suggestions, and made us feel like we were his only guests. We shared the spinach dip and each ordered a pizza (which made amazing leftovers!). The food was delicious and came out fast—thanks to that high-heat brick oven. We can’t wait to come back and try the calzones next time. Highly recommend checking this place out!

This is our second time to marioochi’s! It has been delicious both times! We got the wings for an appetizer, the Hey Mikey Pizza, and the large cannoli! Man was everything good! This is one of our favorites spots and we’ll continue to visit when we are in the area! The Hey Mikey Pizza has hot honey on it! It’s so delicious!! The place is very clean, the waiters are good, and everything is very reasonably priced for the quality of food!

Kayla was an amazing server very polite and courteous. The atmosphere of this restaurant is top notch for the location and it doesn't get much better. The pizza HANDS DOWN the best in all of Cookeville and the entire area I've only lived here for about a year and my first time in Sparta, dont change a thing!.

A great Italian restaurant. Authentic pizza the way it is made in Italy, especially in Rome. Fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked, thin crust and delightful. Try the garlic knots appetizer. Excellent. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Get there early for dinner, they were very busy by 6:00 pm.
